FAQ

APS is a participating in-network provider for Blue Cross, Neighborhood, United, Cigna and Aetna insurance policies. Please contact the office for additional details.  There are some exceptions to this, so we recommend that clients verify that APS is considered in network with their plan.

Please note that clients are responsible for being aware of their coverage and benefits.  We will do our best to verify this information, but we strongly encourage all clients to ask Member Services at their specific plan about any copays, deductibles, or possible lapses in coverage to avoid unexpected expenses, as denied sessions or copays/deductibles are due at the time of service.  Clients are responsible for notifying APS of any changes to their coverage during their treatment.

We accept cash, check, and credit cards for payment, and we would be happy to discuss your treatment and payment options with you.

We offer in person visits and telehealth sessions.  For in person sessions, please reschedule or opt for virtual if you have any symptoms of COVID.  Our telehealth sessions utilize a secure videoconferencing app called pMD.  Clients must be in RI at the time of their telehealth session.

There is no administrative staff on duty, but you may leave a voicemail on the secure office line (401 932 2045).  For quickest response, please leave your email address and the Director will immediately get back to you to assist (do not leave any confidential information via email).  Dr Plante-Voisine’s direct email is advancedpsychological.ri@gmail.com

To schedule, we will need the name of the client (and if the client is a child, the parents name as well), and an email address so that we can grant access to our secure patient portal to upload all information.  All documents are provided through our portal, and are completed in advance of scheduling.

Unfortunately, we are not currently accepting new therapy clients at this time.  We are scheduling for evaluations.  Emailing the office is the best method of scheduling, as we can grant you access to the secure portal through email.

We offer comprehensive psychological evaluations, but do not assess for Autism Spectrum Disorders, disorders involving psychoses, or complex neurological conditions (which would warrant neuropsychological assessment).  Our evaluations assess for cognitive and memory functioning, executive functioning (such as focus/concentration/impulsivity, often pertaining to ADHD), processing speed, and social-emotional factors (such as anxiety and depression).

We do not do any court ordered treatment or evaluations, or any evaluations that are for any legal or custody matters.

Your intake appointment is your first appointment, where information is gathered regarding presenting concerns, academic and medical history, family and living situation details, work or school factors, and so on. These appointments can be virtual or in person. Evaluations are scheduled after the intake appointment, and testing appointments are in person at the Westerly office.  We currently schedule 2 testing appointments as it has greatly reduced the wait time for our clients. We typically are booked about 2 months out for testing.  After returning take home forms that are provided to you, results appointments typically take place 3-4 weeks later via a virtual results visit with Dr Plante-Voisine.

For all clients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance, under law (effective 1/1/2022), you will receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your services will cost.  If you receive a bill that exceeds the amount, you may dispute the charge.  You will be provided this estimate in writing at least 1 day before your service, or prior to scheduling.  Please make sure to copy or save a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.  For questions or more information, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
